Research Opportunities & News

We are a Research Active Practice

At Carn to Coast Health Centres, we’re proud to be research active. That means we take part in a range of NHS-Approved research studies that aim to improve care, develop new treatments and better understand how to keep people healthy.

By getting involved in research, we’re helping to make sure that the care we give isn’t just goodit’s the best it can be, both now and in the future.

Why we take part in research

We take part because we believe in better. better care, better treatments, and better outcomes for you, your family, and your community.

Research helps answer important questions like:

  • What’s the best way to treat a condition?

  • How can we spot illnesses earlier?

  • What support really makes a difference in people’s lives?

It also helps us stay up to date with the latest developments in healthcare – so we can offer you the most current, evidence-based care.

What kind of studies do we support?

We take part in a wide range of research studies, including:

  • Questionnaires or Interviews about your health or experiences

  • Trials of new or existing medicines.

  • Studies looking at specific conditions including, but not limited to, Asthma, COPD, Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Mental Health.

  • Health technology trials using apps, wearables or remote monitoring

  • Prevention and lifestyle research, such as diet, exercise or sleep.

Some studies are as simple as a one-off survey, while others may involve appointments or follow-up. Whatever the study, you will always be given full information before deciding whether or not to take part.

What studies are we currently running?

TRIUMPH-OUTCOMES

The TRIUMPH-OUTCOMES study will test if an investigational medicine can help reduce the risk for heart disease and slow down the development of kidney disease in people with excess weight.

Published Research

We’re excited to share that a study we were involved has been published (August 2025). Over the course of two years 157 patients kindly supported this particular study at our practice, supported by our brilliant practice nurse team.

The study focuses on increasing uptake of cervical screening – a vital test that can prevent cervical cancer.
